We recognise the need to develop our business in a sustainable manner. By this we mean business development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Our approach acknowledges that there are physical limits to the resources of the Earth, both in terms of generating materials and absorbing wastes, and that any business activity exceeding these limits is, by definition, unsustainable.

Let's focus on the issues that are most central to our business and the activities we can control. These include: ethical sourcing, material selection, packaging and waste.

Ethical Sourcing

Where possible we will shop local. That means most of our products are manufactured in the UK and by local businesses. This way we get good service and we know our suppliers personally. Goods spend less time in transit so we can reduce poluting freight miles.

Sometimes economics drive us further afield and like many companies we must compete by sourcing from the Far East. To help us do this we employ a UK agent who is tasked with clear ethical guidelines -

• No factory we engage will use child labour.
• All finished goods will comply with relevant EU safety standards and display ingredients
• All materials to be recyclable and non toxic.

Material Selection

We source 70% recycled stainless steel for the manufacture of our Wallet Tools and both our Pebble and P-pod boxes are moulded from polypropylene which can in turn be recycled.

Packaging

All our packaging is designed for recycling. Plastics used in our clam packs is bio-degradable PET and the adhesive is a natural latex gum. The packs are designed to break down easily for material recycling.

Waste

Sounds a bit cranky but we re-use pretty much every carton, box and wrapper that comes into the warehouse. This does mean that our customers will receive goods in what appears to be odd-looking packaging from time to time. But we pack the goods carefully. No one minds. It all helps.
